BAD WABBITTS SHINDIG

One thing I have found is bikers in general are an adaptable lot and can usually find ways round barriers. When sadly the regular venue for the Bad Wabbits do put a blanket ban on all outside events (due to NIMBY neighbours) they and a few other clubs had to look for new venue in quite a short time.

While some planned events went off to pubs and farms, the Wabbits found another social club not too far away in Fishbourne, not far from the roman villa, a slight change of date and all systems were go!

Thankfully there were no worries about finding the venue, as there were some great direction signs to a village hall tucked away down a tiny lane. A quick hello at the gate and I was directed to  park my faithful steed on an already packed field, not far from Laylas and Aprils stunning chops. Layla was later to pick up an award for best chop. The shindig has always had a nix of bikes from vintage to modern sports.

I’ve always liked the Bad Wabbits as  they are very much a social club with a bike habit, and also seem to turn up at many events across the south. If I was to join a club it would be the one for me. The event as ever had a village fete feel with lots of local stalls, and very family friendly. With the club providing outside bar, and BBQ it was such a chilled event. Happily, for me an ice cream van too which on a hot day was a delight.

During the afternoon a band played in the hall, and  despite timing drew a large crowd. There was a camping area too for those carrying on he party in the evening.

Somehow the rat bikes and Waynes unique rat ford trike had migrated  to one small area like a blemish amongst the chrome and paint. His  trike  later won the rat trophy and the Bad Wabbitt Crew Trophy.

Roy had ridden down on his dads vintage Harley, which later won a prize , but I am, not so sure that he has mastered the starting of it yet, certainly needs some tips from his dad and made good spectator sport. The stunning LCS2 BSA has had a new black paintjob courtesy of Stig and with new copper accents looks stunning. It won best engineering.

There were a handful of scooters including a smart levellers themed Lambretta chop which had many chatting about, especially Nick and co from the Musos who have played with the band.

The prize giving and raffle we have to say were a little chaotic, hence I didn’t work out all  but all done in a fun way, especially with the kids “helping”.

Arriving too late for judging was a great tribute  to American air force For me the one bike I would have ridden home was the blue 47 BSA which was just begging to be ridden .

Another fab day, and hopefully the Wabbits have found their new home for the next shindig.
